SFJAZZ presents another Jazz Minute – a brief look at important figures, movements, and moments in jazz history and the present day, in both the San Francisco Bay Area and around the world.
In this episode narrated by Terence Blanchard, we return for a second look at Grace Cathedral’s deep history with jazz music. Described as a place of worship “consecrated by jazz,” Grace has been associated with the music since it opened its doors. SFJAZZ’s long running “Sacred Space” series at Grace takes advantage of the cathedral’s natural twelve-second reverberation and has included performances by saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, Joe Henderson, Yusef Lateef, Branford Marsalis, Zakir Hussain and many more.
