In this episode, we look back at the rise of San Francisco’s famous Fillmore District and its importance to the city’s rich jazz heritage, tracing its roots in the Second Great Migration to its heyday in the 1950s and early 1960s, when it was the largest and most vibrant jazz scene on the West Coast. Today, the neighborhood’s jazz legacy is celebrated by the annual Fillmore Jazz Festival each July. Narrated by Terence Blanchard.
