An all-star band of veteran masters including Donald Harrison, Javon Jackson, Eddie Henderson, Patrice Rushen, Buster Williams, and Lenny White honors Miles Davis’s acoustic music of the 1950s and 1960s. They explored the songbook of Davis’s First Great Quintet of the 1950s with John Coltrane, the iconic 1959 sextet session Kind of Blue, and the exploratory 1960s Second Great Quintet with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams. This concert, filmed in May of 2023, was part of a week devoted to the legacy of Miles Davis.
