Our 10th Anniversary week in January of 2023 concluded with two nights of music featuring an incredible array of artists who have served as Resident Artistic Directors at SFJAZZ over the last decade, joined by saxophone great and former SFJAZZ Spring Season Artistic Director and SFJAZZ Collective founding member Joshua Redman.
In addition to Redman, the musicians featured on this historic night of collaboration included drummer, composer, and 2021 NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington, guitar giant Bill Frisell, bass master Marcus Shelby, pianist and SFJAZZ Collective member Edward Simon, and legendary musician, composer, and multi-media artist Laurie Anderson.

ABOUT THE SFJAZZ RESIDENT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR PROGRAM
The Resident Artistic Director program was conceived to give a selection of visionary, forward-thinking musicians the opportunity to present new work, collaborate with other world-class artists in exclusive performances, and use the Miner Auditorium stage as a space to let their creativity run wild.
The 2023 SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Directors are Brandee Younger, Ravi Coltrane, Kenny Barron, Julian Lage, and Howard Wiley.
