Pamela Rose presents Blues Is a Woman
Pamela Rose’s celebrated Blues Is a Woman blurs the boundaries between concert and theater, using storytelling and music to bring to life the colorful history of the bold and singular women who wrote and popularized the blues. Our ensemble of powerful artists will take you on a journey from the very earliest days of 'trouble' songs—which mothers sang to their children—through the decades in a celebration of blues and blueswomen!
For this special Family Matinee honoring Women’s History Month, vocalist and presenter Pamela Rose assembled a stellar line-up of Bay Area stalwarts alongside emerging young talent, paying homage to the truth-telling women (and men) who carved a place in American music history by bearing their souls. Through this exciting Blues Is a Woman program, Pamela Rose and company take us on a journey back to the most foundational genre in Black American music as we sing, clap our hands, and rejoice.
