About this Clip:
"One of the most studied (and copied) saxophonists on the planet” (DownBeat), GRAMMY-nominated tenor saxophonist Chris Potter brought his newest project to this concert filmed in June 2019 during the 37th San Francisco Jazz Festival, a powerhouse trio featuring rising keyboard master James Francies and drummer extraordinaire Eric Harland. They perform Potter’s fresh composition "The Nerve" – full concert available On-Demand through August 31.
A restless explorer, Potter began his musical journey in the late 1980s with bebop veteran Red Rodney and laid the foundation for his current position as a leading light, fronting multiple ensembles and collaborating with a staggering list of major artists including Paul Motian, Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Zakir Hussain, Herbie Hancock, Jim Hall, Steely Dan and the Mingus Big Band, to name a few.
