New Orleans funk legends Dumpstaphunk perform their 2025 single “Let’s Do It” during their concert on October 11, 2025, part of the SFJAZZ 2025-26 Season and broadcast on Fridays Live.
Dumpstaphunk has cemented its reputation as one of the most respected New Orleans musical institutions. Ivan Neville (keyboards/vocals) and Ian Neville (guitar), the sons of Aaron Neville and Art “Poppa Funk” Neville respectively, alongside original member Tony Hall (bass, guitar, vocals) have built upon their iconic NOLA legacy as they’ve built Dumpstaphunk into the city’s pre-eminent 21st-century funk-fusion export.
Ivan Neville has lent his inimitable style to work with Bonnie Raitt, the Rolling Stones, Don Henley, and Delbert McClinton, and formed Dumpstaphunk in 2003 specifically to play at that year's New Orleans Jazz Fest. The band has become Neville’s primary project, releasing four infectious albums including 2021’s Where Do We Go From Here.
Both in the studio and on the stage, their performances have attracted sit-ins from the likes of Carlos Santana, Flea, Bob Weir, George Clinton, Chaka Khan, Dave Matthews, Trombone Shorty, and members of Phish amongst many others.
Their original music and prolific live performances combine ingenious musicianship exercised within complex funk, rock, and R&B arrangements accompanied by soulful quadruple harmonies and Big Easy traditions.
