Preservation Hall Jazz Band bassist and Creative Director Ben Jaffe takes us through the development of his composition “Keep Your Head Up” from their 2019 album A Tuba For Cuba. Originating as a jam with local percussionists during a trip to Santiago de Cuba, the uplifting tune was a highlight of the band’s performance at SFJAZZ with vocalist Eme Alfonso during Summer Sessions in 2019.
