In honor of Andrew Hills's birthday today!
SFJAZZ presents another Jazz Minute – a brief look at important figures, movements, and moments in jazz history and the present day, in both the San Francisco Bay Area and around the world.
In this episode narrated by Terence Blanchard, we celebrate the legacy of legendary pianist and composer Andrew Hill. The last musician personally advocated by Blue Note Records founder Alfred Lion as a major voice in jazz, Hill was a visionary artist who infused his background in classical composition into a highly individual blend of angular hard bop with avant-garde exploration.
