About the concert:
Lauded as “an irresistibly joyful sibling combo steeped in American roots music” by the San Jose Mercury News, this Oakland-born trio of singing sisters combines folk, Americana, gospel, bluegrass, country, and soul with unearthly harmonies that only a lifetime of singing together can create. The sisters’ lushly arranged original compositions and engaging approach have won fans of Todd Rundgren, the California Honeydrops, and ALO, and they’ve appeared on Garrison Keillor’s epochal public radio show A Prairie Home Companion.
After 2014’s Laurie Lewis produced album Kindred Lines, the sisters have worked consistently, performing non-stop and recording a self-titled 2016 full-length and a series of live releases, singles, and EPs, until the pandemic brought live activity to a halt. For this return appearance, the sisters celebrate the release of Big Girl Pants — their third, and most accomplished album to date. Beginning production right before the COVID shutdown, the record represents a leap forward in songcraft and production, reflecting themes of loss, global upheaval, and the promise of renewal and new life, as two of the three sisters became mothers over the last two years. New experiences push artists to new horizons, and Big Girl Pants celebrates new approaches, from indie-folk to jazz and psychedelia.
